This is exciting news for the Latino community since business ownership positions one into middle class status. According to Dr. Murillo President of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce “the Hispanic community is on a surge. Everyone is interested in marketing, selling and buying from Latinos,” and clearly Latinos are positioning themselves to sell.
There is a huge interest in this Latino business ownership phenomenon resulting in the national increase in organizations, societies and federations to support the needs of the Latino business community. And Latino business owners are jumping at the opportunity. Silva president the of the Hispanic Chamber reports that their membership has increased from 500 to 5000 in just a few years. This is unprecedented and the non-Latino community is taking notice.
Today Latino business accounts for $375 billion of the economy. Latino business has a 70 percent survival rate, much of this is due to their relentless dedication to their work. Historically the Latino is known for their rigorous work ethics and their ambition to please. Companies such as Verizon have taken an interest in this trend in Latino business ownershipbecause they have understood the power of the Latino in business and how it relates to their doing business with this population. As a result Verizon is providing ways to assist Latino business succeed.
This awakening trend of Latino in business and the rate in which it is populating will make all of the difference in repositioning Latinos in leadership. The Latino already possesses the tools passion and relentless determination tools in which will result in the success of Latino’s in business.
